Marble and his son died without finding it, but their narrow 135-foot excavation still exists in Lynn Woods and opens on a limited schedule.

A Romanesque building in Back Bay was constructed for a Spiritualist congregation during the movement's nineteenth-century boom. Its history reflects the period when séances, spirit communication and Spiritualism became organized religious practices in New England.

The Merchant hotel occupies the eighteenth-century Joshua Ward House, built on land once associated with Salem sheriff George Corwin. George Washington later stayed here. Ghost stories have accumulated around the property, but it remains an operating hotel rather than a paranormal attraction.
