Ashburn’s giant peanut monument was originally erected in 1975 to celebrate the local peanut-processing industry. Hurricane Michael destroyed the earlier peanut in 2018, and a new steel-supported monument was completed in 2023 after a community fundraising effort; travelers now see the rebuilt peanut as a roadside landmark.
