The Big Spring at Hot Springs State Park is a natural geothermal feature rather than something built, with hot mineral water feeding the terraces and bathhouse system at Thermopolis. An 1897 agreement reserved part of the spring water for free public bathing, and travelers today can view the spring from boardwalks and use the park’s free bathhouse during posted hours.
