Winlock’s giant egg tradition began in 1923 when the first oversized egg was built for a parade celebrating the Pacific Highway bridge and the local poultry industry. Several replacements followed as earlier versions deteriorated, and today a later fiberglass incarnation stands in Vern Zander Memorial Park as the town’s signature roadside landmark.
