High Point’s oversized furniture landmark began in 1926 as a giant “Bureau of Information” promoting the city’s furniture industry. It was completely redesigned in 1996 into the present 38-foot chest of drawers with giant socks hanging out, and travelers can still view and photograph the exterior from the surrounding streets.
