The museum displays treasure and artifacts recovered from the Whydah Gally, the pirate ship commanded by Samuel Bellamy that wrecked off Cape Cod in 1717. Its discovery produced the first authenticated pirate-ship wreck ever identified, giving the collection a much stronger historical basis than typical pirate attractions.
