The Giant Uniroyal Tire began life as a 96-passenger Ferris wheel at the 1964–65 New York World’s Fair. It was moved to Allen Park in 1966 and converted into the stationary 80-foot tire landmark that still towers beside I-94; it is best viewed from public roads and nearby legal stopping points rather than approached directly.
