This roughly 15-foot swan began life as a parade float built in 1966 to carry Miss Elk Rapids before eventually becoming a permanent landmark outside the local Chamber of Commerce. Students have helped maintain and repaint Talula over the years, and the oversized bird remains an easy roadside photo stop.
