This stone tower looks like the romantic ruin of an ancient structure, but that appearance was intentional from the beginning. Reverend J.M. Buckley reportedly decided the valley had nearly every scenic feature except a ruin and built one to complete the landscape. A trail from the Waterville Valley area reaches the deliberately fake relic.
