Started in the 1970s as a residence for ISKCON founder A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the project evolved into an ornate gold-covered palace decorated with stained glass, marble and elaborate interior work. It now operates as a public attraction within the New Vrindaban community and looks wildly out of place in rural West Virginia.
