At roughly 6,200 feet on Haleakalā's slopes, introduced redwoods and other temperate trees form a cool, foggy forest that feels radically different from coastal Maui. The access road requires a four-wheel-drive vehicle for camping areas, and storm or road damage can change availability quickly.
