A pale face-like image in an upstairs courthouse window is traditionally said to be that of Henry Wells, who was accused of burning an earlier courthouse and lynched in 1878. The supernatural explanation is folklore, but the mark in the glass is a long-standing local curiosity visible from lawful public areas.
