This isolated cemetery is the most visible remnant of Pere Cheney, a nineteenth-century lumber town abandoned after disease and economic decline. Stories about a witch's curse, ghostly lights and unexplained voices have accumulated around the site, but visitors should treat it primarily as a historic cemetery and remain respectful of the graves.
