A life-size bronze mastodon with bright blue tusks appears to climb out of an enormous manhole outside the Muskegon Museum of History and Science. Unveiled in 2019, the sculpture gives Michigan's official state fossil a deliberately impossible return to the streets of downtown Muskegon.
