Detroit's once-opulent 1920s Michigan Theatre was partially gutted and converted into a parking garage rather than completely demolished. Cars now park beneath surviving plasterwork, balconies and fragments of the old auditorium, creating one of the strangest adaptive-reuse spaces in the city.
