A memorial in Matawan's Memorial Park remembers Lester Stillwell and Stanley Fisher, who were killed during the 1916 Jersey Shore shark attacks. Their deaths were particularly shocking because the attacks occurred inland in Matawan Creek rather than in the open ocean.
