Built as a private home in 1832, the building later became a women's college, served as a Civil War hospital and opened as a hotel in 1935. Stories of a ghostly violinist, wounded soldiers and a riderless horse remain part of the inn's lore, while the property continues to operate as a hotel, restaurant and spa.
