This bronze lobsterman traces its origin to a plaster sculpture commissioned for Maine’s display at the 1939 New York World’s Fair. The Portland version depicts a working fisherman kneeling over a lobster, turning a piece of World’s Fair history into a permanent monument to Maine’s best-known industry.
