At the remote tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, this former launch site was used during the 1960s for small sounding rockets that collected meteorological data over Lake Superior. A marker and surviving traces commemorate Michigan's little-known role in early rocket research, but reaching the site involves remote roads and conditions can be highly seasonal.
