A cliff-top overlook looks roughly 1,600 feet down onto the isolated Kalaupapa Peninsula and includes interpretation of the settlement created for people with Hansen's disease. General entry to Kalaupapa itself remains restricted and permit-based; the overlook is the appropriate no-permit perspective for most travelers.
