Bootlegger George Remus fatally shot his wife Imogene near Eden Park's Spring House Gazebo in 1927 while she was on her way to divorce proceedings. Local legend says a woman dressed in black still appears around the gazebo and former reflecting pool, which remain freely accessible within the public park during park hours.
