A stone bridge built in 1909 near the Zealandia mansion is tied to one of Asheville’s best-known ghost legends. Folklore says a grieving woman named Helen hanged herself here after losing her daughter and still appears around the bridge; the story is unverified, and visitors should stay on public roads and away from the private mansion.
