Only the intricately carved stone facade remains from German immigrant Christian Heigold's nineteenth-century Louisville home. Covered in patriotic inscriptions and sculpted imagery created during a period of intense anti-immigrant sentiment, the facade was saved from demolition and relocated as a freestanding public monument.
