Florena Budwin is traditionally identified as a woman who disguised herself as a man in order to accompany her husband into Confederate military service. Captured and imprisoned, she died in 1865 and is buried at Florence National Cemetery; elements of her story remain debated, but the grave has become a local historical curiosity.
