A coal settlement from the 1880s, and the scene of an 1894 mine fire that killed thirty-seven men before operations largely ended in 1919. A 2.5-mile round trip now passes a coal cart, a sealed shaft, the powerhouse foundation and the cemetery. Trail parking is on a private field and costs five dollars a person.
