Frankenstein Cliff rises dramatically above Crawford Notch and is reached as part of a steep hiking loop near Arethusa Falls. Despite the horror-movie association the name suggests, the cliff honors nineteenth-century landscape painter Godfrey Frankenstein rather than Mary Shelley's creature.
