Maggie and Kate Fox reported mysterious rapping sounds here in 1848 and became central figures in the rise of modern Spiritualism. The original cottage is gone but its foundation remains inside Hydesville Memorial Park; the park itself is open to visitors while access to the enclosure and guided interpretation may require the caretaker.
