Founded from Franklin Fairbanks's Victorian natural-history collection, this museum still feels like an enormous old curiosity cabinet. Tens of thousands of specimens include taxidermy, birds, insects, ethnographic material and scientific objects displayed inside an equally distinctive nineteenth-century building.
