Self-taught builder Earl Young created a group of stone cottages with curved roofs, massive boulders and storybook proportions that have become known as Charlevoix's Mushroom Houses. Most are private residences, so travelers should view them respectfully from public streets or use an authorized walking tour rather than entering yards.
