Hidden in brush near Tower Hill Road, this tall granite monument is covered with an unusually long inscription recounting an eighteenth-century murder involving William Jackson and sea captain Thomas Carter. The monument was erected more than a century after the event by eccentric spiritualist Joseph Peace Hazard. It stands close to a busy roadway, so approach only from a safe lawful area.
