The towering black-and-white spiral lighthouse is an Outer Banks icon and the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States. Its surrounding area also carries ghost stories, including tales of a spectral cat and maritime spirits linked with the dangerous waters of the Graveyard of the Atlantic.
