The Craddock Terry complex grew from Lynchburg's shoe-manufacturing industry, which began here in the late nineteenth century and once produced thousands of pairs a day. A giant red high-heel sculpture with a built-in seat now stands outside the converted hotel, turning that industrial history into a deliberately oversized photo stop.
