The present Aquia Church was completed in 1757 after its nearly finished predecessor burned, and the building later survived use by Union soldiers as a stable, hospital and campsite during the Civil War. It remains an active Episcopal church with remarkably preserved colonial woodwork, and historical tours should be arranged with the church office rather than treated as unrestricted sightseeing.
