Agate preserves some of the world’s important Miocene mammal fossil deposits as well as collections connected to the Cook family and Lakota people. Trails cross the fossil landscape while the visitor center interprets animals such as beardogs, ancient rhinoceroses and the strange burrowing paleocast known as Daemonelix.
