Brett Manning lives and works from her rural farmhouse in Indiana, where much of her inspiration comes from the nature and everyday life surrounding her. Her work is influenced by patterns, folklore, old stories, unusual creatures, and personal experiences that find their way into what she creates.
She works primarily in ink, using a more traditional illustration style with a strong focus on detail, linework, and texture. While illustration is at the center of her work, Brett also enjoys experimenting with other creative mediums. Depending on the project, she may be working with photography, watercolor painting, or even designing and creating goblin plush toys.
Brett enjoys having the freedom to move between different forms of art and follow whatever idea interests her at the time. Whether she is drawing something inspired by folklore, photographing the natural world around her home, or bringing a strange little creature to life as a plush, her work is connected by a sense of curiosity, storytelling, and appreciation for the unusual.
